It is well presented, the format is convenient, the photos are of very good quality and let's face it, the topic is fascinating. France Magazine Cave Art will undoubtedly be a deserved success. Highly recommended. Descent A thoroughly practical guide to visiting the 50 or so cave art sites in Europe that are open to the public. Paul resists the usual guidebook penchant for star ratings; he picks out a few 'super sites' that are especially rich, but he writes most evocatively of caves that are less adapted to visitors, the dark, damp and slippery bat-infested holes that you crawl into and where one perhaps feels closest to the world of the original cave artists. Current Archaeology I do not know how many giants there are among writers of rock art, but Bahn is certainly one of them.
