After his honorable discharge, he worked as an Electronic Tech for 14 years. In 2003 he was diagnosted with Young-Onset Parkinson's Disease at the age of 38. He wrote his first book about Backpacking with Parkinson's based on his true experiences, first published paperback in Apr, 2010. He subsequently rewrote the first half of the book and released it under the title of: 100,000 Footstep on the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail in 2011. His newest book is Caught up in a Strong Desert Storm: The 101st Military Intelligence Battalion in the Middle East, 1991. Published in July of 2017, about his time in Iraq with the US Army.
