OverviewThe Catholic Church believes that the apostle Peter was the first Pope. Is that true or does God's Word refute the notion. When did the Catholic Church begin if Peter was not the first Pope. Christ, after His crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension became the only High Priest, a High Priest forever, and all Christians were called a royal priesthood. Does Catholicism believe that or do they continue to practice a priestly system that opposes Jesus Christ. The word Christian means follower of Jesus. Does Catholicism follow the teachings of Jesus Christ? Peter's gospel (1 Peter) was written twenty-seven years after Christ's death and resurrection which would mean that the priesthood as practiced by Old Testament saints was fulfilled for almost thirty years, and all Christians after Christ's resurrection had become a royal priesthood. Christ was the eternal, and only High Priest. 2 Peter was written approximately six years after 1 Peter. Peter Himself taught that, therefore how could he be the first pope? Why is Catholicism called Roman Catholic? Was it because Catholicism adopted the teaching of St. Augustine who lived in the time of the Roman empire, and the Roman Catholic Church adopted his teaching? St. Augustine lived 13 November 354 - 28 August 430 AD. Catholicism sainted St. Augustine, but the priesthood as practiced in the Old Testament ended in 33 AD. So why does Catholicism practice a form of priesthood which opposes all New Testament teaching? God's Holy Word has strong language against idolatry, and repeatedly and frequently teaches faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as fully sufficient for salvation. Does Catholicism believe and teach that? These Questions, and many others, are dealt with in detail in this book. This book looks at the religions of the Roman Empire, and their worship of literally thousands of gods. When the apostle Paul travelled to Athens he witnessed Rome's paganism in their worship of many gods. Did the Roman system of worship, or someone immersed in its system, influence what became known as the Roman Catholic Church? Is the origin of the Roman Catholic Church what the Church says it to be? Idolatry is an abomination to God. Anything worshipped, or treated as Deity in any way, is an idol, and Rome was a very idolatrous nation. Did that idolatry spill over into the Roman Catholic Church, or did they have idols of the Church's origin, or both? How much, if any, influence did the Roman Empire's paganism have on the doctrines of the Catholic Church? Are the apparitions that Catholics see and report as the ""blessed virgin Mary"" real, imagined, or a spirit being of one of the fallen angels who followed Satan in his rebellion against God? This nation is in a far advanced state of apostacy. Today, there are three types of Churches. There are doctrines that began as Christian Churches and have remained true to the Holy Bible. There are those Churches that began as a true Christian Church but fell so far from truth they can no longer be called Christian. Also there are doctrines that have never been a Christian doctrine; those doctrines are commonly known as cults. Into which of the three religious categories does the Roman Catholic Church fit? This book investigates practices of the Catholic Church and compares them with Scripture.
