Cathodic Protection of Steel in Concrete and Masonry

Overview

Cathodic protection of steel reinforcement in concrete and other structures is an established technology, which is being used on an increasing diversity of structures. A new application of particular importance is the cathodic protection of masonry structures. This revised second edition addresses the need for guidance in the use of this important technique. Written specifically for a professional audience, this state-of-the-art reference book is essential reading for the professional engineer or skilled person working in the refurbishment of concrete or masonry structures, or those seeking to produce more durable reinforced concrete structures. This new edition builds on the success of the previous version by including more detail on the design factors involved in cathodic protection. It also reviews the new European standard EN 12696, research and product development, and a diverse range of installations that have been successfully completed.

Reviews

""This book provides an introduction to the topic that is (with some basic knowledge) easy to understand, and gives a quite detailed view of the complexity of the design process for CP systems for steel in concrete and masonry. The text is supported by many examples from case studies. The book will be of great value not only to civil engineers and consultants in the field of concrete repair who wish to gain insight into CP and its possibilities, but will also show engineers in other fields of CP application the special aspects of CP of steel in concrete and masonry."" -- Michael Raupach, Magazine of Concrete Research
