Every week, yes we might say almost every day, we have letters of inquiry regarding their habits, the management of them, etc., and we will give our experience as nearly as possible through a series of articles which will appear in this valuable paper for a few weeks, over our signatureSo much has already teen said that one would think little else could be said, but really the half has not been told. Many people ask me the question. Why are Indian Eunner Ducks so profitable, so much more so than other breeds? I invariably reply: Eecause Ihey are regular little egg machines. Really one man accused me of saying, because they lay two eggs a day and other varieties lay one. 1 deny the charge, but I do say the Indian Runner laid an egg yesterday, to-day and will tomorrow. Right on, day after day, week after week, month after month. With a flock with its foundation made up from some great laying strain, such as ours are, and with good care and management, we might say they are veritable gold mines, nothing less, for indeed that's the word to use. Beginning one must be sure of this heavy laying si rain else their fondest hopes are crushed in their infancy. There is as great a difference in the laying qualities of the Indian Runner Ducks as in any other poultry. Indeed there is. Last spring, along in March, we knew of a flock of Indian Runner Ducks that had good care and management and exactly same food as our own and the women never got an egg, while we had been shipping eggs every day since January 20th, for setting purposes, ...
