Cardiomyopathy refers to a set of diseases which affect the heart muscle. Common symptoms include swelling of the lower extremities, shortness of breath, fainting, irregular heartbeat and increased tiredness. Individuals with cardiomyopathy are at a higher risk of sudden cardiac death.
