OverviewCardiac decompensation is a dreaded clinical form of heart failure. Cardiovascular disease is the world's leading cause of death, claiming an estimated 17.9 million lives every year. Today, they are the leading cause of death in Haiti. This is a descriptive cross-sectional study, carried out in the archives of the internal medicine department of the Centre Hospitalier Foyer Saint Camille (CHFSC) from January 2021 to December 2022. 70 hospitalizations were made over two years for decompensation confirmed by echocardiographic examination. Stage IV exertional dyspnea according to the New York Heart Association (NHYA) classification was the most common in our study population, accounting for 71.43%. Duration of hospitalization, in-hospital medications and other information are included in the book.Cardiac decompensation is an underestimated pathology because echocardiography is not systematically performed in suspected patients. The length of hospitalization varies according to adherence to drug treatment, and complications can be avoided.
