Reviews

is extremely thorough, with detailed discussions of all appropriate imaging techniques. There are several chapters encompassing management of bone metastases, including individual discussions on bisphosphonates, radioisotopes, radiation, surgical management, and an entire chapter on the pathophysiology and management of hypercalcemia. There is also appropriate detailed attention to the management of pain that is caused by bone metastases. The tables and figures are well-organized and instructive, and the index is also helpful. an outstanding text that should be included in the libraries of all those with an interest in the physiology, diagnosis, and/or management of patients presented with the difficult problem of cancer that is metastatic to bones. --Richard Seigel, MD, Northwestern University for Doody's Review Services Promo Copy
