Karis Joy Kornfield wrote stories, essays, and poetry since she was small (see The Gladness Book, coming out soon). Karis was born in Wheaton, IL and grew up in São Paulo, Brazil. She graduated with honors from the University of Notre Dame, spoke five languages, was a pioneer for intestinal and then multi-organ transplantation and lived in Pittsburgh for most of ten years before moving to Heaven in February 2014 at age thirty. Her story is told through excerpts from her twenty years of journaling in Karis: All I See Is Grace. Famous for her smile, passionate in her faith and devoted in her love for people, Karis both amused and exasperated her family through her quirky humor and pranks.
