Reviews

This volume provides a comprehensive and detailed overview of the thought and influence of John Calvin by many of the leading interpreters of Calvin today. The range of topics is quite impressive, covering many major themes of Calvin's theology, from his understanding of creation to the place of the Jews in the household of God. The volume also does a wonderful job of locating Calvin in the context of his life-long engagement with the reform of the church in France, and his own experience as a refugee from France. Randall C. Zachman University of Notre Dame This is a splendid collection of exercises in critical appreciation of Calvin. Alert to the range and depth of Calvin's achievement, and to his continuing capacity to prompt reflection, these are essays of a high order. -John Webster King's College, University of Aberdeen
