California's Deadliest Women: Dangerous Dames & Murderous Moms

Overview

California's Deadliest Women presents fascinating and grimly comic profiles of 28 female murderers. Some killed for money, some for revenge, and some for no reason at all - but all share a cold contempt for human life. We like to think of women as nurturers, not murderers, but women do kill. California's Deadliest Women is the definitive guide to the murderesses of the Golden State, a horrifying compendium of women driven to kill by jealousy, greed, desperation, or their own inner demons. From Brynn Hartman, who killed her husband, comedian Phil Hartman, to chemist Larissa Shuster, who dissolved her husband in acid, to dominatrix Omaima Aree Nelson, who cooked and ate her husband, the 28 women profiled in California's Deadliest Women show that the fairer sex can be as evil - and as deadly - as any man. AUTHOR: David Kulczyk is a Sacramento-based crime historian. He was born in Bay City, Michigan, in 1958, and grew up in nearby Linwood. He spent his twenties as a musician, his thirties as a bike messenger, his forties making money, and his fifties writing books. His work has appeared in The SF Guardian, The East Bay Express, Madison Magazine, Maximum Ink Music Magazine, Pop Culture Press, the Seattle Times and the Sacramento News and Review. Kulczyk has written three other books, ""California Justice: Shootouts, Lynchings and Assassinations in the Golden State,"" ""Death In California: The Bizarre, Freakish, and Just Curious Ways People Die in the Golden State,"" and ""California's Fruits, Flakes and Nuts: True Tales of California Crazies, Crackpots and Creeps."" He has a B.A. in History from California State University, Sacramento.

California's Deadliest Women is a good, horrific read. Just don't dip into it too soon after, say, eating. Tony Mostrom, LA Weekly
