OverviewThis book is intended for science and engineering majors and others who are required to take calculus. It is a non-rigorous infinitesimal approach to calculus which focuses on differentials of variables that represent physical quantities in equations rather than on derivatives of functions. It involves algebraic operations on differentials rather than on limits. These are the methods that were originally conceived by G. Leibniz over 300 years ago and have been used successfully by scientists ever since. It is written in the spirit of Calculus Made Easy written by S. Thompson. Thompson wrote his book in 1910 before infinitesimals were legitimized. Hopefully this book makes calculus even easier. This is not a textbook. Examples are given to illustrate concepts but there are no exercise sets and no index. It is meant to be used as a supplemental reading.
