After graduating from France's prestigious École Normale Supérieure, he taught Spanish in secondary and higher education for many years, and sat on the examination board for the agrégation, the country's highest teaching qualification. He then turned to publishing, managing various collections of educational material. He is a regular contributor to Assimil, with publications including phrasebooks, slang guides, exercise books and language learning courses. Equidistant between two countries, two languages and two cultures, he is also a translator of fiction and non-fiction, in Spanish and French. Belén Ausejo was born in Madrid in 1956 and today lives in Andalusia. With her passion for languages, she has developed a number of educational materials for Spanish as a Second Language, including a phrasebook, a guide to Spanish slang, workbooks and course materials for secondary school students.
