Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationVoy Ernst Althaus, born on October 3, 1926, at home in Gillespie County, Texas, was the second child to Marlin Ernst Althaus and Lena Reams Althaus. After growing up on the family ranch near Willow City, Texas, Voy graduated from Fredericksburg High School in 1944. He earned his bachelors degree in Geology from University of Texas at El Paso in 1949 after serving in the Army at the end of World War II. He then moved to New Orleans where he started working for Humble Oil Company. Voy served Humble as a petroleum geologist, well log analyst, geophysicist, and computer programmer through the company's changes to Exxon, living in New Orleans and Houston. Voy retired from Exxon in 1987 after 37 years of service and eventually moved back to his birth place of Fredericksburg, Texas. Among many interests Voy pursues in retirement, he continues to use his geology background as a member of the Hill Country Underground Water Conservation District.
