Author Information

John Martinka is known as The Escape Artist because of his expertise in three areas: 1.Helping executives escape the corporate world by buying the right business the right way; 2.Creating large exits for small businesses so the owner can exit their business with style, grace and more money; 3.Accelerating businesses so they escape their plateau thereby dramatically increasing the value of companies. John has over 20 years of buy-sell experience, supported by a master's degree in finance and economics from Marquette University. A recognized public speaker, John has developed a reputation for expertise in business acquisition and problem-solving. He has the knowledge and real-life experience to bolster client confidence and deliver measurable results. John has owned three businesses, led a company turnaround, ana-lyzed hundreds of acquisition candidates for scores of clients, and helped more than 100 clients buy or sell a business. He helped start Partner On-Call Network and was in charge of training and support. In that role he assisted both new and experienced consultants as they grow their busi-ness. John works with numerous non-profits and was twice a Rotary Club President. In 2005 and 2006, as part of a Rotary International project, John led a team of adults and high school students as they installed almost 300 computers in schools in the Slovak Republic. When the project started these schools had no computers for the stu-dents. In April 2007 they did the same in Istanbul, Turkey, and in 2008 they started a long-term relationship with the Rotary Club and the Ministry of Education in Antigua and Barbuda in the Caribbean. For over 12 years John and his team have installed more than 3,000 computers, dis-tributed more than 9,000 dictionaries to third grade students, put the Americas Foun-dation for Chess First Move program in the schools, taught computer maintenance classes, and gave sewing lessons to teach ladies living in a high-poverty area the skill of sewing (they will use these skills to make family clothes, school uniforms and items they can sell). His team's February 2013 project added building and stocking a library at a primary school, and they have since started training Antiguan teachers on how to teach more effectively using technology.
