Overview

Grace thought she had left behind the small-town Old South politics when she escaped to Atlanta, until her sister decided to get married at their family's plantation home and make Grace be the maid of honor. Haunted by the rumors and ghosts of high school horrors past, she braced herself as she stepped out of the car, only to find that the one person who started all of those rumors was going to be walking her down the aisle as the best man. She has spent the last decade on the run from those memories as she built a whole new life and business empire in the big city, and now she has to face them head on. He leaned down as his warm breath danced along the skin behind her ear and down her neck. She gasped at the unexpected sensation, sitting up a bit straighter before she turned to look up at him, her warm hazel eyes meeting his cool pale green ones. Their hot breath danced across each other's cheeks as the moment continued to stretch out between them, each waiting for a reaction from the other. He suddenly moved; his lips crashed against hers and his fingers wove through the hair at the base of her neck, angling her head so that he could kiss her deeply. The box slid out of her lap as she gasped against his lips, her own hands reaching for him, resting on his chest as she fisted his shirt. His tongue danced against hers, and he moaned at the taste of her as he pulled her impossibly close, his other hand moving to her hip. Without warning, he lifted her onto his lap and pulled her flush against his chest. She gasped, bracing herself as their lips broke apart. He continued kissing her, his lips finding a trail across her jaw and down her neck as she arched her back. ""Caleb,"" she breathed out. ""Hmmm."" He replied with his lips never leaving her skin. ""Look at me."" She whispered as his lips brushed against her collarbone. ""Please, look at me."" She waited for a moment as he paused, his eyes opening to look up at her as he reluctantly leaned away from her neck. Her hands slid back from their position in his hair, as her thumbs brushed against his cheeks. She stared down at him, her eyes searching for any hint of darkness or deceit, desperately hoping that they will only tell her the truth. Her body was tense, and she evaluated him and he watches her eyes move back and forth with a serious expression on her face. His hands slide up to her ribcage, pressing against the skin just below her breasts. ""Grace."" He breaks the silence between them. ""What are you looking for?"" Her gaze refocused to meet his. ""The truth.""
