Daniel Barros nasceu no dia 4 de outubro de 1968, na cidade de Maceio, estado de Alagoas, filho de um oficial da Policia Militar de Alagoas, Ivan Marinho de Barros, e da professora Maria Tereza Costa de Barros. Foi colaborador, como fotografo, de O jornal e Gazeta de Alagoas. E engenheiro agronomo formado pela Universidade Federal de Alagoas no ano 1992, e pos-graduado em seguranca publica em Brasilia, onde reside desde 1998. Ingressou na policia no ano seguinte.
