Overview

Oh, hard hard it can be when things don't go your way, especially when you're trying to lead a team to victory! Losing can be hard for anyone, and how we react to tough situations is so important! In this book you'll discover what happens when one team captain at recess struggles so much to deal with his team losing the game that he begins to act like a bully. But after a caring and thoughtful conversation with his teacher and a bit of self-reflection about his choices, he realizes that whether he's a team captain at recess or the leader of a school, town or even something bigger like the country, there's no room for bullies in leadership!

Author Information

Native Texan, mother, and former Texas public school educator in elementary and special education, Julie cares deeply about the lessons children learn by observing adults and those in positions of power. Passionate about supporting the character development of our world's future leaders, her first book explores the value that comes from taking time to help kids reflect on why they have big feelings and how to manage their emotions in healthy ways. Her book's message highlights how the simple act of acknowledging someone else's feelings can foster reflection and restorative action. Children must be provided tools for growth and be reassured that when they make mistakes, there is always a way to make things right again. Julie earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from McMurry University and her master's degree in educational leadership from Stephen F. Austin State University. She currently works in higher education, mentoring the teachers of tomorrow.
