Author Information

As a very young child Jean liked telling her little brother stories.  This interest grew into a love of writing and all creative arts.  She received a grammar school education in Gloucester and, for the purposes of obtaining employment, undertook a secretarial course at Gloucester Technical College.  Her working life was mainly in the Civil Service and Local Government with a gap of several years to bring up three boys.  Having lived in Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Hampshire during her marriage, Jean returned to the workplace as secretary to the Chief Administrator of the Portsmouth College of Art, Design and Further Education (PCADFE).  Upon the break up of her marriage, Jean returned to her native Gloucester but did not settle and returned to her home in Hampshire.  After several years in Local Government, ironically, Jean obtained employment with The University of Portsmouth, Art Department which was based in the same building as PCADFE, where she stayed until her retirement.    The demands of employment curtailed Jean’s time that she would have liked to have spent on her creative writing but it also gave her an insight into the art world.  Since her retirement she has been able to spend more time on her passion for anything creative and has joined several clubs – craft, photography, book club, and an exercise class.
