Build Kickass Teams: Lead Boldly. Hire Intentionally. Forge a Team That Actually Gives a Damn.

Overview

Hire Better. Lead Smarter. Scale Without Carrying It All Yourself. If your business falls apart when you step away, you don't have a team - you have a bottleneck. And that bottleneck is you. Build Kickass Teams is a tactical leadership and hiring playbook for founders, entrepreneurs, and managers who are tired of being the approval machine, the fixer, and the safety net for everyone else. This isn't an HR book. It's not about hype. And it's not about becoming louder or tougher. It's about building clarity, standards, and ownership into how your team operates so performance doesn't depend on your constant involvement. Inside, you'll learn how to: - Identify and hire true assets instead of settling for ""almost good"" - Design 30/60/90 onboarding plans that create early wins and real alignment - Build accountability systems that don't rely on your memory - Delegate outcomes instead of tasks so ownership actually sticks - Coach performance in real time without drama or delay - Address underperformance and toxicity with fairness and backbone - Create leadership rhythms that keep execution moving without micromanagement Each chapter ends with a Monday Morning Playbook - clear, practical actions you can implement immediately without restructuring your entire company. Pete Srodoski draws from decades of operating experience as a CEO and COO of high-growth businesses, combining hard-earned lessons with practical frameworks leaders can actually use. If you're done carrying the company yourself and ready to build a team that performs, cares, and lasts, Build Kickass Teams gives you the blueprint. Lead boldly. Hire intentionally. Build a team that actually gives a damn.

Reviews

""Pete doesn't sugarcoat anything - and that's exactly what makes this book so valuable. Build Kickass Teams is packed with real talk, real tools, and real results.""- Stephanie Beck, CEO, Heritage Pallets ""Pete's leadership style blends hard-won experience with sharp business insight. You get the wisdom of someone who's been in the trenches and done the homework - with zero fluff. He tells you what matters and how to make it happen.""- Josh Bagby, CEO, Providence Insurance ""Pete is a great guy, a great coach, and someone I'm proud to call a friend. He's spent time in the trenches, and it shows - his advice is legit: real, practical, and battle-tested.""- Josiah Ronco, CEO, Acre Vault ""Pete's coaching put our company on the right track - and we've never looked back. Now he's distilled that same clarity and wisdom into a book that's as actionable as it is easy to read.""- Justin McGough, COO, Foojee ""Pete challenged me in the best way - not just to lead better, but to lead braver. He holds up a mirror to your blind spots and helps you see that what you thought was a flaw might actually be a strength. Instead of forcing you to fit a mold, he teaches you how to build teams that complement one another - where differences create synergy, not friction.""- Ella Murdock, CEO, Southernite Interiors
