These Bronx tales tell the story of the city's northernmost borough at its best and worst times - straight from the mouths of those who live, work, or grew up there. - New York Daily News The interviews in the book were conducted from 1982 to 1986 and include activists along with political and religious leaders. They tell their stories of triumphs and trials, living through troubled years of arson, crime, abandonment as well as poverty. - Bronx Journal Stories of the Bronx in the 1970s often focus on the borough as a symbol of urban decay. But a new book, Bronx Faces and Voices, focuses on the people who played a positive role in that era of the borough's history. - Bronx Times
