Reviews

Clearly written with a real love for Carriacou, its language, and its people. Ronald Kephart's book paints another brilliant color on the Caribbean linguistic canvas. (Ian F. Hancock, Professor of Linguistics, University of Texas, Austin) Ronald Kephart's study of Carriacouan Creole English is one of only a few descriptions of Antillean Creole languages that center on natural language - language as it is actually used. Dr. Kephart's warm regard for Carriacou people shines through, as does their rich folklore and verbal culture. This book should be of value to anyone interested in Caribbean language and culture, and to educators in the United States who are interested in bilingual education. (Donald R. Hill, Professor of Anthropology, State University of New York, Oneonta)
