He holds the International Mountain Guides Carnet and spent eleven years as a coach at Plas-y-Brenin, the National Centre for Mountain Activities in north Wales. He is interested in the philosophy and psychology of outdoor adventure, in descriptive writing and in visual arts in the landscape.
