Bridging the Gap: A Parent's Guide proposes an opportunity for parents and educators to work together to help our children gain a better understanding of themselves. The Parent's Guide is the first of a two-part series. The second part is a guide for educators. The book provides information to help adults to look at their behaviors and gain a better understanding of how they are perceived by adults and children. This book is based on simplicity and fun and provides creative activities to enhance your child's self-esteem and socialization skills. It will also provide you with opportunities for quality time to help build and establish communication, trust and rapport. If Bridging The Gap influences one family, child, or educator to change the way they handle specific situations in a more effective and positive manner, then it has served its purpose. Author Information

Terry began her career working as a probation officer for adolescents in the community. She provided intensive probation, individual and family counseling. She also helped to develop a program for children and teens in the community in an effort to give kids alternatives to getting into trouble. She later worked inpatient Dual Diagnosis and became a Program Director for a long term residential treatment center providing individual, group and family therapy. She developed a program for Daycares and Early childhood education teachers to bridge the gap between early childhood educators and parents. Terry's mission for Bridging the Gap is to enhance children's behavioral skills and educational abilities along with implementing mutual awareness and communication between families and educators. Over the past 14 years she has also worked in medical sales and customer service industry where she also provided motivational sales and customer service training techniques to colleagues and clients. During her journey, she, like you encountered numerous successes and pitfalls and has taken the time to try and figure it out. She now wants to share her insight with you. Terry holds a Master of Arts Degree in Educational Psychology and Counseling from Tennessee Tech University, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mass Communications from Middle Tennessee State University. A business owner (Inspire and Motivate, IAM) and motivational speaker, Terry has authored three books: Bridging the Gap - An Educator's Guide, Bridging the Gap - A Parent's Guide, and The Resume of Life, A Guide to Realizing Your Purpose Through Spirit, Mind and Body.
