OverviewBreaking Waves, Making History is a thrilling account of the audacious circumnavigation of the globe by two women officers of the Indian Navy — Lt Cdr Dilna K and Lt Cdr Roopa A — on board INSV Tarini. Starting from Goa, India, their journey spans 23,400 nautical miles and around eight months over five legs, with stops at Freemantle, Australia, Lyttleton, New Zealand, Port Stanley, Falkland Islands, and Cape Town, South Africa. Through rough winds, high seas, flooded decks, and some beautiful sunsets, Dilna and Roopa chart a historic course for India as they pass many iconic locations including Point Nemo, Drake Passage, Cape Horn, Cape Leeuwin, and Cape of Good Hope. Along the way, their journey makes essential contributions to the scientific studies of microplastics contamination, sea mammals, and pre-cooked meals. Lavish with photographs and intimate details of life at sea, this account of two women sailors will be a delight for those interested in maritime studies, oceanography and naval history, as well as to the adventurer in all our hearts.
