Overview

Kemnebi, the Chancellor of the Blood Lords, has an epiphany while rewriting the legal code that governs the society of Geb. He realizes that the ultimate price of undeath is the denial of the soul's deepest need: to grow. Kemnebi is pained by the irony of developing a legal framework to protect a culture whose inevitable fate is stagnation and decay.
