Overview

Linguist Vivian Probst reveals how masculine English is, containing, she claims, almost 20,000 words that contain 'he' words and only a handful for women that don't attach us to men. Her premise is that the absence of words for women in English is a primary factor in our inability to achieve equality. -Probst shows us how easy it is to make English a fair and equal language by respelling only six words. She then challenges all English speakers, whether native or second-language to bring equality to English by using these easy word spelling changes. Her suggested changes are based on her linguistic background.

Author Information

Vivian Probst never intended to use her linguistic background to work on English. She intended to continue in her family's tradition of a missionary life with an emphasis on tribal areas without a written language. - While in Africa, Vivian was shown that her life work was elsewhere. She returned to the U.S. and became a national consultant to the affordable housing industry that (to this day) provides housing for people in need. On March 10th, 2000, a dream awakened her to writing fiction stories to help people suffering from life issues. She became an award-winning novelist, preferring a world of fantasy in which she could use stories to tell these tales. She called it Intention Fiction. While still traveling and teaching tax regulations, she continue working on her stories, known as The Avery Victoria Spencer Fables. -On August 8, 2008, while working on a fifth book in her Avery Victoria Spencer Fable series, Life showed her this incredible travesty-how English prefers men in words. She knew it was her work to fix it.-Fifteen years later, she had a remedy-simple changes to six words that equalize English and give women some words of their own using linguistic spelling. While simple in concept, it took Probst years to decode English. This has been her life work since 2008. 'Breaking The Bias of English' explain her work.
