Book Description for Bread Versus the Sword: The Inherent Schism Within Christianity and How It Threatens Our World From the very beginning of the Christian Movement, there have been two opposing ideas about the very nature of God. Jesus knew God as Abba, 'Little Daddy or Mommy', the loving source of life, unthreatening, supportive and faithful. Not coercive nor controlling. Most 'believers', then and now, prefer a God of Power, One who seeks to control, demanding perfection and 'correct' worship. We want both to be true. What we know as 'Christianity' is/was the results of when Emperor Constantine adopted and adapted the Early Church in order to better control and unify his disintegrating Roman Empire of the early 300's. From that time on, Jesus' God-of-Bread, Abba, has been largely neglected. The God-of-the-Sword has reigned. That is clear today where, in much of the world, 'righteous' Christians are trying to impose their 'correctness' on others. This religious issue is more than an in-church debate, as it is affecting liberties, lives, local and international politics around the world. It is in the news most every day, but the religious nature and source is rarely mentioned. It is touted as simply 'Right Wing' politics. We assume a separation of Church and State. We are wrong! To remain uninformed about this is an unnecessary handicap. This book provides the background to help us start to ask the needed questions, regardless of our spirituality.
