In a future where Earths resources have been deleted, humanity relies on the Explorer's guild to discover and colonize new worlds. Senior Explorer Anya Tyszko and her apprentice, Sulligan embark on a First Landing mission to a barren world that once supported life. Their goal is to map. Explore and establish a base for future missions. As Anya and Sulligan explore the planet they discover the ruins of an ancient civilization, mysterious glyphs and evidence of a catastrophic event that ended life on the planet. Their discoveries raise questions about the fate of the lost world's the Guild has discovered, and the possibility of finding living cultures beyond the Earth and its colonies. The Explorers face technological challenges, psychological strain and the ever present danger of the unknown. Meanwhile, Anya's husband Gustof, an agricultural researcher for the Guild, struggles with loneliness and paranoia back on Earth. His green house is sabotaged with a hallucinogenic spore, leading to a tense investigation that reveals a conspiracy inside the Guild. Throughout all of this Anya and Gustof's love and psychic bond endures across the cosmos and, together with Sulligan they address humanity, affirming a new era of exploration, cooperation and hope for the future.
