Overview

Gregoy THOMASJohannes Brahms was born in Hambourg in 1833. A child prodigy, he was brought up with a devotion for Bach, Mozart and Beethoven. A gifted pianist, be taught, accompanied singers, played the organ and in the evening played the piano in the taverns, at an age where other composers continued their musical education. His meetings with the violonist Joachim and the couple Robert & Clara Schumann were decisive. At thirty, he went on the conquest of the difficult Set of Vienese musicians, he received the help of the critic Hanslick and of the conductor Hans Von Bulow.Spoilt with good health ans a generosity knowing no limits, Brahms ruled for a quarter of a century of Vienese music. He died in Bonn on the 3rd April 1897 and rejoined Schubert & Beethoven in the cematary of Vienna. His work was enourmous and covered all the domains, with the exception of the opera, but the piano held the dominant place. His two concertos, and the pieces composed at the end of his life ar counted amongst the greatest works of piano literature.Translation: Sally Joanne LENOIRIndex: Valse Op. 39 No 9 / Danse hongroise No 5 / Valse Op. 39 / Intermezzo Op. 117 No 1 / Dans hongroise No 1 / Valse Op. 39 No 2 / Dans hongroise No 3 / Romance / Intermezzo Op. 118 No 2 / Dans hongroise No 7 / Valse Op. 9 No 8 / Symphonie Op. 90 No 3 (3eme mouvement ) / Danse hongroise No 6 / Berceuse / Danse hongroise No 4
