OverviewThe coma patient screamed her inaudible words: Who am I? Who is this man crying over me in my bed? Answer me! Why can't you hear me? So begins the final book in the Bound to Tradition trilogy, which continues the story of the Lindqvist family. From the remote African savannah in Tsavo Park, Erik managed to fly his comatose wife Khira and their deathly sick daughter Loyana to a private clinic in Glion-sur-Montreaux, Switzerland, for medical treatment from vastly different ailments. Loyana was inadvertently poisoned during a Luoland female coming-of-age ceremony arranged for her by her mother Khira. Upon discovering his wife's deceitful hand in his beloved daughter's illness, Erik lashed out at Khira, leaving her in a coma. Erik, helpless and inundated with guilt and fear of losing my girls , has no idea how to cope with his other four children. He has to turn to his parents and his wife's bestie since childhood, Joyce... Then his oldest son also goes missing and Erik realizes that he can't bury his head in the sand of his business... I loved the poignant style and picturesque dialogue - African/Luo as well as contemporary. This is a feat that only an accomplished writer can achieve so effortlessly without leaving the reader in doubt of what is meant. The author admits that there are autobiographical elements in the novel. BTT being the first volume of a trilogy. Dr U. B. Sheldon The heroine Khira is a sympathetic young woman very representative of young Africans who try to run away from their traditions and bump into modernity, yet bounce back to who they truly are. One's traditions and culture, so the message, cannot be shed off completely. This is a trilogy with the message on the passenger seat while the story does the driving and the steering. I highly recommend it. Ideal as a gift for families, friends, and relatives. Prof C. N.
