Botox Cosmetic is an injectable muscle relaxant for wrinkles. To temporarily paralyze muscle, it employs botulinum toxin type A, namely OnabotulinumtoxinA. This decreases the look of wrinkles on the face. Botox is a minimally invasive treatment. It is regarded as a safe and efficient treatment for fine lines and wrinkles near the eyes. It can also be applied between the eyes on the forehead. Botox was initially licensed by the FDA in 1989 to treat blepharospasm and other eye muscle disorders. In 2002, the FDA authorized Botox for moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows as a cosmetic treatment. In 2013, the FDA authorized it for the treatment of wrinkles in the corners of the eyes (crow's feet).
