Overview

I believe in magic. I believe that symbols, senses and shared memories are a bridge from the present to both the past and the future, and that thoughts properly structured and expressed can shape our reality. What I used to write and call poetry when I was younger was mostly a spilling of emotions, a haphazard purging often equal parts catharsis and confusion. But since those early days I have read, and learned, and discovered what poetry is for me. In this collection I lay out my life through poems like laying out a card spread with the Tarot. Like a Tarot reading, poetry is always now, and yet connects what is done with what is next; it transcends narrative, engages the mind and emotions, and trades in the currency of the archetype in order to lend structure to our thoughts and desires. In this structure I have found that my poems were and still are divining where I've been, where I belong now, and where I'm going. 'Born of Water, Seeking Fire' is my personal road that I invite you to share, to discern in the words and the imagery new insights into your own journey.
