Caught between the tyranny of a paranoid Czar and a war-mongering Kaiser, he must navigate a road of poverty, punished by thieves and anarchists, confused by preachers, and forced to choose between being a warrior or a coward. His survival depends on the skills of a peddler and hard-earned lessons as a bootlegger. Raised by parents who taught him how to survive in a wilderness of beasts. We'll explore the life and times of Russia circa 1900, but beneath the documented terror, there's an intimate story of finding one's way through a maze of obstacles that want to tear you down.
