Born a Philly Sports Fan

Overview

Born a Philly Sports Fan is an inspirational message to Philadelphia fans that is meant to remind us all of where we've been and what we are capable of doing. It is filled with references that span the eras of Philadelphia sports and illustrations inspired by the moments that have made us who we are. It will serve as a reminder for the older, grizzled fans and a way to indoctrinate...I mean...inform and encourage new generations of Philly fans for years to come. In February 2023, after experiencing losses in BOTH the World Series and the Super Bowl in less than four months, I considered becoming a guy who didn't watch sports. Not for me of course. I'd been losing for decades. I'd been losing since before I even knew that winning was an option. I can burn through the stages of grief in an afternoon if I need to at this point. However, in February 2022, a little less than a year before Super Bowl LVII, my son was born. I watched every Phillies and Eagles game that year with him on my lap. So when everything came crashing down, I asked myself: ""What kind of parent would voluntarily usher their child into a such a disappointing existence?"" After some time and reflection my answer was: ""A good one."" No one needs to be taught to enjoy the feeling that comes from winning. And not everyone learns how to fall, but if you learn how to fall when you're young, you'll never be too scared to get back up. That's what growing up a Philly Sports Fan has taught me. Losing sucks, but that doesn't mean you should stop getting up.
