The book is a valuable contribution to border studies, not in the least because it offers useful insights for understanding contemporary border regimes at a time when we cannot afford the luxury of ignoring them. Thus, for border scholars it offers a neologism and plenty of food for thought whereas for those not familiar with border studies it may work as a kind of eye-opener challenging deeply embedded perceptions about borders.
