Author Information

Franck Ferrand is a connoisseur of decorative art, and the author of Jacques Garcia: Decorating in the French Style (Flammarion, 1999). He has also written Bruges, Le Bal des lfs, and Parfums: L'empire d'un sens, published in French by Flammarion. Hugh Johnson, Britain's best-selling wine writer is famous for his ability to make the most complicated details accessible to the reader and for his sense of humor. He is the author of numerous books on fine wine including The World Atlas of Wine and is currently president of the 243-member Circle of Wine Writers. Writer Dewey Markham, Jr. was director of the Ecole de Cuisine LaVarenne in Paris. He now manages two renowned wine stores in New York. Originally from Holland, Cornelis Van Leeuwen earned his oenology degree in Bordeaux. He is co-editor in chief of the Journal International des Sciences de la vigne et du vin and has contributed to numerous publications on the subject of wine-growing conditions. French historian, former International reporter Jean-Paul Kauffmann is a lover of good wines, good cigars, and good food and is currently director of L'Amateur de Cigare. He has written several books on French art and history including his most recent work, The Angel of the Left Bank: The Secrets of Delacroix's Parisian Masterpiece.
