Juan Hernandez, a currently incarcerated artist, teamed up with Lucky Jefferson for Bond, which explores the complex and often overlooked relationships formed in prison. This initiative invites incarcerated individuals to reflect on unconventional bonds-such as the connection between a man and his found record collection, the strength of communal ties, and the relationships formed within the confines of the prison system. Writers included in this publication share personal stories, offering unique insights into the human need for connection in a setting where such bonds are often unseen. Our vision was to challenge societal norms and open a conversation about the emotional lives of incarcerated individuals, providing a public-facing platform for voices typically excluded.
