Overview

Adolescence is a phase of great transformation for human beings between childhood and adulthood. At this stage of life, adolescents become more vulnerable to influences created and imposed by the media and society itself. Consequently, there is greater concern about this group and body image distortion, since the cult of the beautiful, thin, slender and athletic body can lead to behavioural and eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia. The aim of this study was to verify the body image perception of female adolescents in secondary school at a public school in Florianópolis/SC.
