The 8th century Indian master Santideva's classic guide to the Buddhist path, the Bodhicaryavatara or 'Entering the Bodhisattva Conduct', is to this day one of the most popular and important works of the Mahayana Buddhist tradition. Santideva was an Indian Acarya (master scholar) and meditator who lived in the 7th-8th centuries. His Bodhicaryavatara remains to this day one of the most popular and referenced works of the Mahayana Buddhist tradition.Sonam Tsemo is one of the most celebrated masters of the Sakya school in Tibet, and the second of the 'Five Founding Fathers' of that tradition. Sonam Tsemo's commentary on the Bodhicaryavatara, reflecting his many years of study with philosophical luminaries like Chapa Chokyi Sengge, stands today as one of the pinnacles of Sakya scholarship.Adrian O'Sullivan has been a student of Lama Jampa Thaye for over two decades and is a director of the Sakya Samten Ling Buddhist centre in Santa Monica, California.
