Reviews

"A loving portrait of a country currently in conflict, this book explains the geography, history, and culture of Ukraine, including its current war with Russia. Large full-color pictures are included. The tone is upbeat and cheerful, even when writing about difficult topics. At times the hyperbolic language feels out of place in a work of nonfiction. Sunflowers are called ""magical"" and the country is described as having a ""zillion"" landscapes. Additional resources are not included; however, a summary of facts, including the Ukrainian alphabet, and an index are present. VERDICT A well-intentioned but occasionally insufficient work of nonfiction. Recommended for large collections or those without current information on Ukraine.--Chance Lee Joyner ""School Library Journal"""
