Samantha Silver and Gemma Rose Breger, co-founders of This is Mothership Author InformationFor many, Dr. Brooke Vandermolen is better known by her online handle, 'The OBGYN Mum'. Brooke is a practicing Obstetrics & Gynaecology doctor at working in London hospitals. She has a particular interest and experience in benign gynaecology with a focus on paediatric and adolescent gynaecology. Brooke's journey into creating medical content as 'The OBGYN Mum' started with her first pregnancy. Despite her medical qualifications, Brooke found it difficult to obtain accurate, evidence-based information that she could understand and trust to guide her through her first pregnancy and parenthood. Alarmed at how much harder it would be for the average parent, Brooke decided to use her knowledge and credentials to create her platform 'The OBGYN Mum'. To her rapidly growing audience, Brooke began sharing insights and tips around pregnancy, birth, fertility, menopause and more through social media and blog posts. Her evidence-based information has since taken the internet by storm, smashing down taboos around areas of previously reserved areas of medicine. Illustrator Hazel Mead uses her diverse, poignant art to discuss topics not explored enough, while inviting us all to look at each other with empathy. Her cute, playful style along with a sense of humour helps to soften some of the taboo topics she illustrates, making them a little more palatable for British sensibilities. She takes great joy in tugging on people's heartstrings and funny bones, which has resulted in a dedicated online following who resonates with her pieces. Hazel works commercially across publishing, advertising, branding, and mural painting. Her debut book 'Why Aren't We Talking About This?!' was released by Squarepeg, Penguin last year.
