Overview

Writing this poetry book has been the most difficult yet the most empowering. In light of what is happening in this country, and what has been happening for hundreds of years, the theme of this book came quite naturally. Racial injustices, police brutality, and discrimination have infiltrated the Black person in the United States for far too long. Growing up a black woman in the South, I have witnessed my fair share of racism. Some have been very subtle while others have been plain as day. Even through all the hate, bigotry, and small minds, I still have hope. While we have been through the most unthinkable, most unimaginable, most inhumane we are still pushing forward. We are resilient! We are fearless! We are powerful!
