Overview

"""Think of what late greats James Herbert and Richard Laymon may have given birth to had they ever collaborated"" Richard Chizmar Welcome to the long awaited collection from the writer of horror novels 'Pede and Tenebrion; a forword by Richard Chizmar (co-author of Gwendy's Button Box and author of A Long December),18 short stories, 5 flash fiction and even a poem - all skin-crawling, soul-shredding tales of terror, of the darkest things that skulk amongst the night's inky shadows, and of the everyday gone horribly awry. Discover the alternative implication of technology becoming self-aware, enjoy the acquaintance of a charismatic new pastor who promises his flock a brand new place in which to worship his God, and spend a little time in the company of a nice young man who is inexorably caught up in his home town's terrible secret. Then there is Cupid's revelation that personally he has never experienced love, yet we discover that very emotion alive and not so well amongst the ruins of a post zombie apocalypse world, and we bear witness to a childhood innocence forever destroyed in a war-torn city. Observe, too a particularly unsavory individual's obsession with the ever-elusive snuff movie, and then join an elderly bunch of forgetful sleuths out to solve the mystery of the brutal deaths that seem to occur with alarming regularity at their memory care facility. Now, have you ever considered what may happen should you have the misfortune to bump into your family's doppelgangers on a long, tedious road trip? And can you even begin to imagine being the doting father who eventually realizes the apple of his eye's true identity, or the parents who spend what is left of their crumbling lives waiting by the all too silent telephone for news of their addict son? There is more, Dear Reader, much, much more; for within these pages we have devils, demons and ghosts, lycanthropes and demi-gods, all rubbing nefarious shoulders with vilest of Hell's offspring who have slithered from the netherworld to doff their caps and wish us all the sweetest of dreams..."

A Proud Father by JH Longmore I'm still very emotional after finishing this last night. These poignant 7 pages delivered depth, beauty and horror with sharpest of blades. The rush of emotions whilst reading was uncontrollable. In many ways, and I'm sure you will agree when you read, it reminded me of 'The Book Thief, ' in as much as you are taken on a journey that is fated to end in tragedy yet you cannot help but allow yourself to fall in love with the characters. I was treated to 2 stories to read by this Author and am thoroughly looking forward to 'Face of an Angel'. James H Longmore has completely taken me by surprise . I had no idea what to expect, but then I do so love that feeling of discovery and such a fantastic way to be introduced to a new author. In one sentence If 'A Proud Father' was all James H Longmore ever wrote, it would be enough. Donna Maria @Scream Hard Reviews Review of 'Face of an Angel' Once again this author delivers a short story that is executed sublimely. Encapsulated in 12 pages, you find exquisite depths and characterisation, and that's no mean feat. I cried at one point, laughed out loud and felt ice corse through my veins, and although this sounds odd, to me that's a real treat! An emotional story full of dark and piercing perseptions that you just know are as natural to this author as breathing. The ebb and flow is his main armoury and a bit of a demon when it comes to delivering the killer line, be that Funny, Sad or Shicking! A huge 5 stars! A fantastic collection of tales of human terror. This book has a little bit of everything for the horror fanatic: sci-fi, supernatural, psychological, and the list goes on. James Longmore is a true force in the genre, captivating readers with tour-de-force writing wound around brilliantly crafted nightmares that are sure to hold your mind dangling above the abyss. In one anthology alone, he exhibits diversity and adept writing prowess that takes most authors several years and many books to accomplish. If you're a fan of the frightening, macabre, and bizarre, (and if you have the guts), then you'd better get Blood and Kisses, or you'll be missing a revelation. BLOOD AND KISSES BY JAMES LONGMORE is an amazing collection of short stories that range from horror and bizarre horror to science fiction. First off, this collection is the first of Mr. Longmore's work that I have read, I found it to very well penned and very imaginative work. In a style reminiscent of Stephen King, James Longmore has woven tales of absolute, mind-numbing horror to tales of wondrous delight that cause you to pause and give thought. I found many hidden meanings in his words, lessons I would call them, rather intended or not and found that each story had a balance between terror and fascination. The Silverado Memory care Posse and Road Trip Bingo were my favorites of the collection, although each tale was well written have their own levels, depraved leave-the-light-on terror. I give Blood and Kisses a five-star mark will say it is a must-have for the horror collector's bookshelf. Was pleasantly surprised with all the wonderfully gory tales in this one. James H Longmore really drew me in with the entire book. Once I started reading I was hooked. If you love horror, blood, and an awesome creep out factor........check this one out. Will be watching to see what he comes up with next.: )

Author Information

James hails originally from Yorkshire, England having relocated with his family to Houston, Texas in 2010. He has an honors degree in Zoology and a background in sales, marketing and business. Relatively new to the writing arena, his writing style and story telling have already been compared to Stephen King, Dan Brown and Robert Ludlum. An Affiliate Member of the Horror Writer's Association, he has to date five novels published, with another and an anthology due in 2017 - in addition to three novellas and eight short stories dotted about in various anthologies. James also writes screenplays and currently has three under option (a spine-chilling horror, a Tarantino-esque crime caper and an animated family movie). In 2014 he was commissioned by Spectra Records to write a biopic feature on the early life of Bob Marley, and in 2015 was writer for hire on the Kenyan sitcom 'The Samaritans'. As if that weren't enough, James has written and directed a bunch of short movies, winning Best Director in the 2013 Splatterfest film competition and Remi awards at Houston's Worldfest Film Festival in 2012, 2014 and 2015. In his spare time, James pens and performs stand-up comedy on the Houston comedy circuit. James' writing style has been described as uncompromising, unique and entertaining; he combines highly original ideas with brilliant vocabulary and highly effective yarn spinning in which the story always comes first! Be warned, his work does have a tendency towards the dark side - usually with a rich vein of humor - and there is always a delicious twist at the end! www.jameslongmore.com
