OverviewLessing's plays are examined in an analysis based solely upon the complex psychology of C.G. Jung and his school. All completed dramas of the poet are viewed here for the first time as the individuation course of a single protagonist. The model of complex psychology serves to clarify the self-attenuation of this protagonist and, therewith, that of the poet as well. Its reading is enlightening, educational, and it speaks to the inner core of one's self. Ilse Pracht-Fitzell made an excellent choice in presenting Lessing's plays by analyzing them in Jungian terms. This bespeaks the true nature of Lessing the artist as well as Lessing the individual. The soundness of one's sanity is rooted within one's ability to journey without getting stuck. Lessing made the German culture pregnant with this awareness and Ilse Pracht-Fitzell assist in its ongoing birth worldwide. It creates a feeling of gratitude for so much precious life.
