Overview

The world has changed immeasurably. Vampires and Shapeshifters have been accorded the same rights as humans and can now live out in the open. After centuries of killing humans and each other, they agree to put aside their old ways and to try to integrate into society. Many succeed but, for some, old habits die hard. The Los Hermanos Islands in the Caribbean soon become a popular choice for the paranormal species, with many settling amongst the humans. Against this backdrop, Homicide Detective Constance 'Connie' Bleak is presented with a new challenge. A prominent vampire businessman has been gruesomely murdered. Some within the paranormal community had reason to see the vampire dead and Connie must quickly sort out fact from fiction to identify the true killer. As danger mounts, it seems increasingly unwise for a human to investigate such a case. But Connie is no ordinary human. Indeed, she may be more like the paranormals than she cares to admit.
