Overview

Blackstone's Statute Books have been designed specifically to provide students with a collection of statutes for use throughout their course, and now cover all the main law subjects. The series has been produced following careful research of the syllabuses of most law courses. As a result, the authors have been able to produce a concise collection of relevant statutes, eliminating some of the non-essential material and concentrating on the more important statutes. This latest edition provides material up to the election of the Labour Government to a second term of office in June 2001. The new material included falls into three parts. In relation to international human rights, the International Criminal Court Act 2001 gives effect to the Statute of the International Criminal Court and makes provision for genocide offences and war crimes in domestic law. In relation to police and policing, the Criminal Justice and Police Act 2001 reforms PACE and makes wider provision for dealing with crime and disorder, while the law of Terrorism Act 2000. Finally on the political front, the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000 constitutes the Electoral Commission and provides for the registration and financial accountability of political parties and the Freedom of Information Act 2000 amends data protection and public records provisions to allow wider access to public information.
