Overview

Not everyone faced the horror of the new world on the surface. Some people had planned ahead, building shelters and bunkers that sustained them for the first few years of horror, emerging as societies began to rise out of the ashes of old. A few, a very few were fortunate enough to have built self-sustained colonies deep underground. Some emerge over time and integrate with the rest of the dystopian world. Others are still hidden in the bones of the world, existing as they have since the fall. Mattie is one of the descendants of the original 407 founders of the Mountain Home. Without parents or family she lived in the lowest caste of her people as one of the inhabitants of the Lower Three, the Waste Run. Mattie has her wits and her knife as she fights for survival, her next meal, and the possibility of a better life as a Monk of Theo and Amos. This is the continuing story of Mountain Home.
