The Black Lives Matter mantra used by the activists is a wishful future. The title of this book, Black Lives Don't Matter, is the most unfortunate state of affairs. The face of the problem today that the BLM movement chases is the mistreatment of Blacks and other minorities at the hands of the police and the criminal justice system. This is not a perceived injustice. It is a real injustice proven from almost any angle. For every heinous story like that of George Floyd that makes a headline, there are countless sufferings that will never see the light; the victims left to struggle in their own private world. The objective behind these laws, the injustices, and cultural shaping is to remove a segment of society from the ability to cast a vote. Everyone is counted in the census. The population count is used to allocate resources and power in a region. A region with a higher population gets more resources and power. But there are also more voters. If an entire segment can be removed from the voting roles, the other segments become more powerful. If I can keep my neighbor from voting, my vote is worth two. I can vote for my interests at the expense of my neighbor. The Black communities in the United States of America are marginalized in an effort to keep them from voting. The methods used to marginalize them have been primarily through unjust laws targeting their community and a biased criminal justice system that includes police actions, court proceedings and an incarceration system. A secondary method is to keep the Black community economically depressed so that they are unable to mount a meaningful change. The Black community must have a fair and equitable access to vote. The vote then opens the opportunity to bring about a change to create fair laws and an equitable criminal justice process. From that, the Black community will gain freedom from an oppressive justice system. These freedoms will lead to wonderful social, artistic, scientific, and economic advancements for all people in the United States of America.
