Author Information

As a Taiwanese-American born in California, Eric Lee fondly remembers summers spent with relatives in Taiwan. Less exciting cultural experiences were Sundays spent at Chinese school. When Eric and Ling’s sons were born, they wanted them to have more exposure to Chinese language and culture. Struggling to find a lot of great bilingual resources, they began creating books about stories that they both loved growing up. Eric hopes to introduce other young readers to the Chinese language and culture through their stories. Eric currently resides in the San Francisco Bay Area. Ling Lee was born in Guangzhou, China and moved to the U.S. when she was 4. She spent many Sunday afternoons attending Chinese school and now appreciates her early language exposure. When Ling and Eric’s sons were born, they wanted to give their children the same language opportunity so that they could better connect with their culture and communicate with their grandparents. Ling and Eric scoured the internet for bilingual kids’ books and struggled to find well-illustrated books that had Chinese, pinyin, and English. That’s when they decided to create their own stories, both to read to their sons and to share with other parents looking to introduce Chinese to their young readers. Ling currently resides in the San Francisco Bay Area. Rachel Foo is a character designer and artist based on the sunny island of Penang, Malaysia. She loves children and her biggest passion is bringing worlds to life for the littlest audiences.
